Aistear

29th Nov 2019

Since September the children have been engaging in daily Aistear sessions. Aistear is play-based learning that provides enjoyable and challenging learning experiences, enabling children to grow and develop as competent and confident learners. Aistear sessions provide children with the ability to communicate  together in a fun and relaxed environment while learning and building on new vocabulary. In our class we choose four different stations for the week and the children engage with a different station daily.

In November, our Aistear sessions for the month were based around the theme of 'Homes'. We learnt about all of the different homes that people live in; apartments, flats, bungalows, terraced houses, semi-detached houses, detached houses, caravans and thatched houses to name a few. We set up our own home corner in the role-play area and practised all of the vocabulary to do with the kitchen! At the small-world station we had our very own dolls-house and we had to make sure all of the furniture was in the right room! We designed our own 'dream homes' at the 'cutting and sticking' station. We constructed our own homes using lego and architecture blocks. We built our own homes using the Aistear wooden blocks. We really are a creative bunch!
