In recent years, St. Peter's quiz team have had a very strong record when competing in local quizzes. It started off when they swept the boards at the first edition in Mount Carmel Secondary School two years ago. All four of our quiz team participating came in 1st and 2nd place- a achievement that could not have been bettered.
When we participated in the local quiz in the Muslim school in May 2025, it was a very close run event as our first team were locked in a tie in the final with Our Lady Helper of Christians GNS, Navan Road. Our first team just pipped them on the tie breaker to take home 1st place again.
Our return trip to Mount Carmel in term 1 of this year was also a successful one with our 1st team winning again and our 2nd team coming in 4th place overall.
Our most recent local quiz took place on Thursday, 14th of May in the Muslim NS with 17 teams taking part from local schools. Our 3rd-6th class teams didn't have much time to prepare together as the school was closed the previous week but it was hard to tell as our 1st team and 2nd teams started the first few rounds very well. Towards the end, our 1st team were 2 points behind the leaders (Mary Helper of Christians GNS) with two rounds to go. it was going to a very tough ask to pull back those two points needed to tie once again.
A difficult final two rounds resulted in St. Peter's 1st team pulling the gap back but they were agonizingly close-losing out by just half a point in the end.
Our 1st team came second overall with 94 points out of 100 with our second team coming 4th overall with 91 points.
Our boys and girls were a credit to the school. Thanks to the Muslim NS for hosting the event and to Ms. Clarke for assisting on the day.
