Over the last few weeks in School 6th class have been studying the 1916 Rising and researching history to our local area from that time. They have done some amazing work! We were lucky to then be invited to Kilmainham Gaol and Glasnevin Cemetery for wonderful tours to tie all our learning together! The children learned about 14 year old Sean Doyle who died in Phibsboro carrying out his role during the Rising as messenger for Thomas McDonagh. The children were fascinated finding his grave and plaque on Doyles Corner dedicated to him after their research. A very interesting month of History for the children!
