Active School Week- Bike and scooter repair hub
On Wednesday, 22nd of April, we hosted our first Bike/Scooter Repair Hub on the front yard as part of Active Schools' week this week. The Bike Hub facilitated the very successful event.
Some of our parents arranged this wonderful opportunity for families to get a free service on their bikes/scooters to make sure everyone is safe when they are out and about cycling during active schools week and beyond.
How it worked:
- Parents/guardians registered for the event at a specific link. They received confirmation of their place if successful.
- Parents/guardians dropped their bike or scooter off at 08.50am
- Mechanics performed safety checks and maintenance on bikes/scooters and write up a short report card.
- Parents/guardians collected their bike/scooter when school ended at 1.30pm/2.30pm
We want to sincerely thank Maeve Bray for organisation (and spending the entire day on site-thanks Maeve!!!), Lorraine Robson for poster design, translators Ting and Ioana and the Bohemians Climate Co-Operative for supplying equipment. Thanks also to the Bike Hub for facilitating mini workshops for our 5th and 6th class pupils in bike repair and maintenance.
It was a tremendous success and we hope to bringing The Bike Hub on board again next year.
