December News 2019

18th Dec 2019

December as always is a very busy month in schools around Ireland as they prepare for the birth of the baby Jesus and here in St. Peter's we have long tradition of hosting a Junior Infants' Nativity Play in St. Peter's Church in the run-up to Christmas. Thanks to Ms. Glennon, Ms. Quaine (class teaacher and director of the chamber choir), Ms. Donegan, Ms. Vaughan, our magnificent 5th and 6th class chamber choir, Fr. Joseph, Fr. Aidan, the staff of St. Peter's Church all of our parents and our wonderful stars of the show-our junior infant pupils.

On Monday, 16th and Tuesday 17th of December, we welcomed our parents into the school for our Christmas open days. We had a magnificent turnout over the course of the two days as our pupils showcased their talents and also performed some festive favourites. Following the open day on the 16th, our 5th and 6th class chamber choir and school orchestra performed.

On Friday, 13th of December, St. Peter's held two fundraising events (one in aid of Trócaire and the other in aid of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland). Our bake/cake sale/coffee morning and crafts' fair (for Trócaire) was extremely successful with our parents really producing the goods (literally!!) on the morning. Our pupil and staff Christmas Jumper day was in aid of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland. Overall we raised almost two thousand euro which will split between both charities. A special word of thanks to Ms. Vaughan, our wonderful team of SNAs, Ms. Holohan and her 5th class who ran the show on the morning, Mr. McConigley, the school SEN team and our parents who brought all the goodies on Friday. Thanks also to Derek, Barbara and Charles (Parents' Association chairperson) for their help on the day too. It was an outstanding success.
