End of year summer strings and school choir concert
What amazing days we had over the course of Monday and Tuesday, filled with music, song, clapping, dancing and good moods as we packed out our hall with parents/guardians/family members and friends for our end of year strings’ open day concerts.
On Monday, 16th, we had our combined orchestra and choir open rehearsal/concert. We also had a special visit from Lily Yang (violin) fresh from her two 1st place finishes in the violin, 2nd and 3rd place finishes in the piano at the Feis Ceoil. She collaborated with Mila in their rendition of ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’.
The inspirational Sr. Bernadette Sweeney warmed us with her words and she was joined by former principal, Joan Quinn- a lover of music herself.
There are so many people to thank from the entire staff of the school (teachers, SNAs, Derek, Collette, Glenda and Martina) our marvellous parent body, our main sponsors Glanmore Foods, to our amazing musical tutors Ciara and Mary, the wonderful boys and girls in the orchestra (including teachers Ms. Oliver and Ms. McCreanor) and choir (led by Ms. Dignam, Ms. McCabe and Ms. Kirrane).
Our strings’ project has made a massive difference to the school in so many positive ways- long may it continue.
