New Primary Curriculum 2025 and other updates
Dear parents/Guardians,
I hope you are well.
I want to bring the following items to your attention.
New Primary Curriculum- a communication from the Department of Education:
- The approval by the Minister for Education and Youth of the five curriculum specifications marks the successful completion of the primary curriculum redevelopment. This achievement follows a huge amount of work by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA), the Department of Education and Youth and its support services in conjunction with school leaders, teachers, parents, children, researchers, and stakeholders across the education sector.
It is essential that parents/guardians are made aware of the changes to the curriculum that have taken place to date and what will be happening over the years to come. In this regard, the department has developed a leaflet which is designed to communicate these changes to parents.
We are asking all schools to share the leaflet with the parents/guardians in their school community. In recognition of the diversity in our schools the leaflet is available in the following languages:
- English
- Gaeilge
- Polish
- Lithuanian
- Ukrainian
- Russian
- Latvian
- Portuguese
- Spanish
- Romanian
- Mandarin Chinese
- Irish Sign Language
All versions of the leaflet can be found at New Primary Curriculum. We would encourage you to choose the languages you believe will be of most benefit to your school community. We would like to thank you for your assistance in ensuring that this leaflet is received in every home of every child who attends your school.
I have attached some of the language leaflets for your attention. They are also available to view on the school website (www.stpetersns.net) in the parents’ section.
- Capitation Campaign
Dear Parent,
As you know, our primary schools need an increase in funding to pay for the ever increasing costs of running a school.
Our school management body, CPSMA, has asked us to send you a link which brings you to a website, through which you can email your local T.D. directly, about school funding.
The website also includes a sample email, which you can use to send to your T.D. or which can be amended, if you prefer.
We would really appreciate, if you could take a few minutes to contact your T.D. and let them know that our schools need to be funded properly.
- The updated school calendar for 2025/2026 is attached to this message and is also available on the school website (stpetersns.net)
- A reminder to all parents about our Restorative Practice Circles session hosted by Monica Monahan in the school hall on Wednesday, 1st of October from 6-7p.m. We would love to see as many parents/guardians as possible in attendance. Please respond to our attendance poll sent on the 19th of September at 9:15a.m. if you haven’t done so already.
Kind regards,
Ray Ryan,
Principal,
St. Peter’s N.S.
