Principal for a Day-Friday, 1st of May
Friday, 1st of May was Principals' Appreciation Day. A huge number of classes participated in a short creative writing activity based on what they thought Mr. Ryan got up to on a daily basis. There were some very creative and clever responses with one Junior Infant calling Mr. Ryan a 'Prince.. apal' and another pupil in 1st class claiming one of his roles as principal was to direct 'Ryanair' aeroplanes on a regular basis. The most common included 'making announcements over the intercom, visiting classes, reading emails and drinking cups of tea'. One of Mr. Ryan's most rewarding jobs is to read out the Golden Postbox notes.
Elbeg and Aoife (both in 4th class) were given the task of being principal for a day and were asked to read out the Golden Postbox notes after lunch on Friday-much to their delight and the delight of the pupils from a variety of different classes.
To round off the afternoon, Chris in 3rd class was asked to make the final announcement of the week- thanking all pupils and teachers for taking part in the short creative writing exercise and wishing them a enjoyable weekend.
