Wonderful Wesley Success for Secondary School Orchestra
On Saturday, 7th of March our secondary school orchestra competed in Wesley Feis for the second time. Last year our group (consisting of only 9 players) competed in the classical chamber orchestra competition so we knew as our numbers grew (to 16 players) and therefore we had to enter the larger orchestra category, the competition would be far tougher. It proved to be the case with a total of eight secondary school orchestras vying for glory.
Our orchestra (comprising of past pupils from 1st year to Leaving Certificate) would be facing seven other orchestras (all from fee-paying, private schools with extensive strings’ projects). In the end, our boys and girls achieved a joint third placed (Highly Commended) ranking- an unbelievable achievement!! Thanks to our wonderful boys and girls, their parents and the marvellous Ciara Cavanagh (their director and conductor).
