Science Week 2021

16th Nov 2021

We took part in a lot of activities for Science Week.  Out in the yard, we demonstrated centripetal force by swinging a bucket of water around our heads without spilling the water.  We also took part in a group STEM activity called 'Splash'.  In groups, we had to hold up a bucket of water with our feet and then remove our shoes without using our hands while keeping the bucket upright.  Most of us stayed dry!  In class, we had to try to save Fred during another STEM activity!  Fred, a jelly worm, was stranded and we had to save him by putting a life buoy (a jelly ring) around him.  We could only use a paper clip to complete this task.  Finally, we made sherbet by mixing together citric acid, icing sugar and sodium bicarbonate.  When we tasted the mixture, a chemical reaction occurred when the sodium bicarbonate mixed with saliva.
